Artist Statement/Bio:

Junrong (Katrina) Zhang is an animator/story artist/3d generalist who aims to create 3D animation films with strong storytelling and vivid characters.

Katrina started getting interested in art when I was a child. Most children like to draw or paint something on paper, or on the wall, but she continued to draw and paint as she grew older. Her interest in art became my passion. Katrina has infinite energy and inexhaustible patience for drawing and painting. When she was in middle school, she was not only satisfied by the traditional arts but also wanted to try something new that related to modern technology, such as digital art. So she started to learn theoretical knowledge of digital drawing online. Then Katrina was attracted by a special form of art, animation. She discovered that animation contains many things, such as concept art, sketching, design, 3D modeling, etc. It magnified her interest and led her to see it as her future career. Katrina went to Ringling College of Art and Design to study computer animation. In Ringling, she enhanced her storytelling and animation skills with multiple software such as Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Monkey Jam, Photoshop, and Premiere at Ringling. Now, as an animator, Katrina keeps exploring more in the animation field and creating more high-quality animations for the public.
